About HayssenSandiacre
A Century of Quality and Innovation
HayssenSandiacre offers both new and pre-owned remanufactured packaging machines (baggers), spare and replacement parts sales, a wide range of upgrade options, field and phone support, and training support for both HayssenSandiacre and other OEM equipment.
HayssenSandiacre has come a long way since 1910, when its founder, Herman Hayssen, invented and patented the first automatic bread wrapping machine in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The first machines were manufactured in Mr. Hayssen's garage with the help of just one mechanic. In 1932, Hayssen® began to manufacture and sell the bread slicer machine. Ten years later the company diversified to wrap other products, such as pillows, wallpaper, yard and boxed products. Hayssen® branched into the vertical form fill seal (VFFS) market in 1954 with introduction of the Twin Tube Model "F" machine, followed by the "RT" horizontal form fill seal (HFFS) machine in 1958.
In the 1960's, Hayssen® RT horizontal flow wrappers became the standard for controlled atmosphere packaging of products such as block cheeses with a unique rotary die wheel concept that provided greatly increased dwell times and superior seals in comparison to competitive machinery.
The 1970's saw the company build upon its flexible packaging machinery applications expertise, culminating in the 1980 introduction of the Ultima®, a vertical form fill seal (VFFS) packaging machine that doubled the output of what was formerly possible, reaching packaging speeds exceeding 130 bags per minute by virtue of a patented measure/form/pull packaging material handling concept.
Concurrently, Hayssen® began marketing the Yamato Dataweigh® computer combination weigher, capable of weighing to a fraction of a gram. The Ultima® bagger series continued to be improved throughout the 1980's and 1990's, while the Dataweigh received a major upgrade in the early 90's with the advent of the Dataweigh Sigma Series.
Leading the way with new technological developments and applications, in the past five years Hayssen® has completely revamped its vertical form fill seal (VFFS) packaging machine product line and developed an advanced RT horizontal form fill seal series packaging machine. Parts sales have become an increasingly important part of the Hayssen® business. And, Hayssen® has expanded its offerings in computerized combination and net weighers, including Ishida, as well as augers, volumetrics and pumps. In 2006 Hayssen joined with Sandiacre Packaging Technolgies to form HayssenSandiacre.
HayssenSandiacre has always been known for quality and innovation in packaging machinery and today is recognized as a form fill seal (FFS) technology and services leader worldwide. Today, HayssenSandiacre is headquartered in the Greenville/Spartanburg area of South Carolina and is a part of the family of Barry-Wehmiller Companies, the largest packaging automation group in the Western Hemisphere.
